And with so many great options in the Asheville area, there is bound to be a dessert option that’s right for you!

Let’s take a look at some of our favorite dessert displays from past weddings!

Traditional Multi Tiered Wedding Cake

When most people think of wedding desserts, they picture the classic, multi tiered wedding cake! For many couples, this classic wedding dessert is the perfect fit for their day! Oftentimes the tiers vary in flavors and some couples choose to save the top tier for their first wedding anniversary.

Ashley and Stephen’s classic, elegant wedding day needed a timeless, classic wedding cake to match! We added a few delicate blooms from their white and green floral palette to finish the look!

This couple wanted to incorporate plants and unique flowers throughout their wedding day. We used a loose, and very organic style of floral design for Abby and JC and added succulents throughout their floral arrangements. Their wedding cake was finished with horizontally combed buttercream and displayed on a wooden cake stand with touches of succulents. It perfectly captured their theme from the day.

We love the different textured elements that went into Ashley and Josh’s wedding cake. The ruffled layer was the perfect touch to capture Ashley’s wedding dress style while the top and bottom layer captured the pearl jewelry and details. We added the most stunning summer flowers such as garden roses and peonies to finish the look and create an elegant, luxurious cake design for their formal, ballroom wedding at the Grand Bohemian!

This summer wedding cake made for Carli and Nathaniel’s outdoor wedding was created using a classic, timeless design and decorated with the very best summer blooms to add colorful touches to the cake. We love the way the cake was placed in lush, loose greenery to finish.

Modern Multi Tiered Wedding Cake

There are so many great ways to keep the traditional multi tiered wedding cake while still adding unique and personal touches to make it your own! Oftentimes this can be done with the design of the cake, special floral touches and accent colors.

The vertical deep grooves on this wedding cake provided a unique and special touch to Taylor and Anthony’s wedding day. It created a beautiful visual impact and the textured icing created the perfect backdrop for some delicate wedding day blooms and greenery. We also love the way this cake was beautifully displayed at The Chateau with romantic candles and Taylor’s gorgeous bouquet!

While traditional wedding cakes are typically fully covered in fondant or buttercream, many modern cakes have extra filling inside while leaving the outside of the cake semi exposed. This semi naked cake style offers a rustic touch to any wedding day and is typically adorned in fresh fruit or berries to find an alternative way to add color to the cake.

Another great way to add some modern touches to traditional tiered cakes is by adding accent colors and metallic elements. A great way to do this is by using edible gold foil! This cake for Heather and Kait’s roaring 20s themed wedding used gold foil accents and deep colored floral touches.

For couples wanting to add a small touch of color to their wedding cake, this ombre cake design is a great example! Kailey and Danny’s main wedding color was burgundy and by adding one ombre tier, they found a great way to incorporate the wedding color into the cake design without taking away from the traditional wedding cake style.

Modern, Abstract and Geometric Cake Designs

Keeping the traditional multi tiered wedding cake doesn’t mean it has to be traditional white in color. Adding colored and textured elements to cakes is a great way of keeping tradition while still providing a unique and creative dessert option for guests.

This chocolate inspired cake is a great example of making your wedding cake your own! The white and dark chocolate shards offer a decorative and textured look for this chocolate drip wedding cake. It worked so well with Gabrielle and Justin’s other modern wedding day details!

Stella and Juzar’s beautiful wedding had a lot of Russian inspired elements and this cake was the perfect fit for their theme! The matte fondant and metallic gold elements was a great addition to their formal wedding day. The best part? This intimate wedding didn’t need a lot of cake, and so only two of the tiers are real! This is a really great idea for couples who have always dreamed of a multi tiered wedding cake on their special day but may not need as much due to a smaller guest count.

Gold foil is in! Kimberly and Daniel’s luxurious wedding day was inspired by a lot of rich colors and textured gold elements. So, of course, the cake had to have a bit of the same! This geode wedding cake was a great touch for their formal affair!

Traditionally, most multi tiered wedding cakes have round tiers. However, we just love geometric cake designs for modern wedding days! Renee and Beth’s cake had two geometric tiers with crisp white icing to finish. The additional touches of textured icing perfectly added in elements of their wedding day color without taking away from the simplicity of their modern cake design.

The Best of Both - Assorted Wedding Desserts and Cutting Cake

For couples who want to keep the tradition of cutting a wedding cake while still offering unique and assorted desserts, a small cutting cake is a great option! Many couples choose to pair the cake with their favorite desserts or local delicacies.

Caren and Cazzie’s rustic outdoor wedding featured a beautiful two tiered cake with assorted pies in a variety of flavors. This was the perfect summer dessert for an outdoor wedding in the mountains!

For the perfect summer wedding cake, fresh fruits and berries area great touch! The simplistic cake design is perfectly adorned with fresh berries that are not only a great design element, but an extra flavor element as well! Also, who doesn’t love a healthy treat at the end of the wedding night!
